【摘要】
This paper adds to the tiny empirical literature on whether there is a separating equilibrium in annuity markets:Evidence for separation in period 1956-62.
Tax treatment before 1956 made screening difficult and reduced the overall size of the market.
Test for adverse selection on the external margin is inconclusive.
